State Government Immersion (7th Grade)
Focus: Correctional Perspectives of Violence

Piloted in Ashtabula, Mansfield and Columbus, Ohio (USA)

IMPROVE Program Designer/Director: Dr. Michael J. Whitely

Kent State University Student Coordinator: Joshua DeWeese

Experiential learning immersion involves students visiting state government institutions to meet with prison wardens (authentic and contrived), prison guards, inmates, administrative personnel and state highway patrol officers to learn about correctional perspectives of violence. The use of community-based learning forums to enhance student learning is spotlighted in this segment.
