County Government Immersion (6th Grade)
Focus: Judicial Perspectives of Violence

Piloted in Ashtabula County, Ohio (USA)

IMPROVE Program Designer/Director: Dr. Michael J. Whitely

Kent State University Student Coordinator: Jacqueline Hunt

Experiential learning immersion involves students visiting county government offices to meet with the commissioners, clerk of the board, judges, sheriff, prosecuting attorney, deputies, K-9’s, parole officer, correctional officers and anonymous inmates to learn about judicial perspectives of violence. The use of civic engagement tours and hands-on learning experiences to enhance student learning is spotlighted in this segment.
