Northern Ireland Community Cooperation Initiative (NICCI)

| National awards program established to recognize the grass-roots
efforts of cross-community groups and individuals throughout
Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The Kent
State University model was created as a vehicle to encourage
cross-community collaboration throughout the island. In
its pilot stage, the NICCI awards presented 27 model-of-the-year
trophies and over 100 special achievement plaques to individuals
and organizations throughout the country. Built on the
Blomgren principal (1979), awards foster positive outlooks
towards new behavior and can also be used to reinforce those new
behaviors. |
